BMW + iPhone = Covergence Partners? Does it even matter?

Monday, April 30, 2007 by e

Three years ago (June 2004) Apple and BMW announced a seamless integration between the BMW audio system and iPods. Fast forward to the coming iPhone and one has to wonder with the rumors of a BMW Series 7 equipped to integrate with the iPhone is the hoax it is being portrayed as or not. Gadgetell fairly debunks the original claim, but what matters here is not the fact it may be malarky, but rather the truth behind what likely WILL happen in the not so distant future.

Apple is well aware of the cult following they have managed with precision engineering and incredible interface design and everyone from Nike to BMW has been keen to team up offering products that further the Apple experience within there own realms of expertise.

The naysayers want us to believe that iPhone will flop. Steve Ballmer of Microsoft would have us believe Apple is doomed and Windows Mobile is the end-all be-all. But the truth of the matter is this: iPhone will debut to smashing success and grow despite whatever the pundits, technophiles and Blackberry lovers want to believe. The cash will flow and the cult of iPhone will join the iPod in changing what we think about mobile devices.

Will BMW step up to the plate and integrate the iPhone? Somebody will.

Harris Interactiive Reveals Immense Interest In iPhone

Tuesday, April 24, 2007 by e

Harris Interactive has revealed in a recent study that nearly 20% of all US adults have an interest in purchasing an iPhone. Combine this level of intrigue with the million plus who have signed up to be notified of more information when the device becomes available and a continued avalanche of potential builds for Apple.

Although the Harris poll suggests many will wait for prices to come down it is evident that the marketing genius at Apple is churning out a product that can make or break the next revolution for the company.

"Apple's new iPhone has shaken the industry to its core," said Joseph Porus, vice president of Harris Interactive's technology practice. "Look for strong sales and a new cult to develop around iPhone."

That cult already exists as evidenced by the hundreds of iPhone related websites, forums and blogs.

Citing the usual suspects for adoption hindrance Harris notes that price point and lack of carrier options may be the biggest impediment to sales of the iPhone meeting the buzz.

Another Look at Multi-Touch in Large Screen

Tuesday, April 10, 2007 by e

There is an incredible energy that comes from watching these videos of multi-touch displays in action. It's a sense of the future coming very, very soon. In the case of the iPhone it's about two months away.

iPhone SMS: Multi-Session, Predictive Keyboard .... Multi-Cool

Tuesday, April 3, 2007 by e

Let's face it - we're addicted to TXTing. I know I am and I know many others who are as well. It's easy, allows for some time shift control and familiar because we all type and TXT our way through the day anyway.

Managing TXTing on a phone may be an olympic sport of thumb activity, but iPhone is about to change all that. I have read the many opinions which say "this is going to be the app that kills the iPhone because busy people need to use one hand ..." BLAH BLAH BLAH! This is going to be the app that thrills the iPhone users as they manage multiple sessions of TXTing as they might with their IM clients on a computer. This is the app that once Apple introduces support for Yahoo, Google Talk, AIM, ICQ, MSN (and whatever other acronymns are out there) will be unstoppable.

Predictive texting keyboard? Yowza. This is good stuff, folks! Multi-touch, multi-session and multi-cool. The stuffed shirts with knowing thumbs can keep the plastic buttons. The rest of us will be moving on to a better, much much cooler TXTing experience.
